Dance Salad Festival Performances return March 17, 18, & 19, 2014

DANCE SALAD FESTIVAL Community Outreach Programs

Dance Salad Festival offers a selection of programs and activities in locations throughout the greater Houston area and outlying regions of Harris County.

 


Touring Taste of Dance Salad Festival 2013 
Film Premiere of 2013 performances will take place on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 7:00PM in the Brown Auditorium, Caroline Wiess Law Building, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

Join us to see film excerpts from the spring 2013 Dance Salad Festival performances and relive the highlights of choreographic masterpieces by such companies as Polish National Ballet, Warsaw, Poland; Compañía Nacional de Danza/National Ballet of Spain, Madrid; Eastman, Antwerp, Belgium; Spellbound Contemporary Ballet, Rome, Italy; La Veronal, Barcelona, Spain; HeadSpaceDance, London, England; Fernando Magadan, Netherlands and TU Dance, St. Paul, Minnesota.

Choreographers represented in the film screening will include Krzysztof Pastor, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Mats Ek, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Mauro Astolfi, Marcos Marou, Fernando Magadan and Uri Sands. Following the film screening, Dance Salad Festival Artistic Director Nancy Henderek will discuss the performances with the audience.Film project funded by a grant from the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance.

12th Annual Dance Salad Festival Choreographers' Forum, will take place on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 in the Brown Auditorium, Caroline Wiess Law Building of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. The forum will feature some of the invited choreographers. Please check for updates regularly.

Free admission, but tickets are required and can be picked up at any Info booth in the Museum. Reception will follow.

 

Artist to Artist Workshops
A series of workshops provide an opportunity for the local Houston dance community to interface with some of the world's premier dancers, choreographers and company directors participating in Dance Salad Festival. Workshops at all levels, specifically tailored for the local companies requesting a master class, are offered throughout the week of April 15 through April 18, 2014. The Open Workshops are offered to intermediate-advanced to advanced students at a nominal charge.

 

Afternoon Student Concert Program
Designed for middle and high school age students, the Afternoon Student Concert Program combines a short tour of the Wortham Center and a final dress rehearsal performance in the balcony of the Cullen Theater, Wortham Center. This free program will be offered on Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 12:30 – 2:00 PM.

A Touring Taste of Dance Salad Festival Film and Lecture – ongoing, year long program

This free film program features highlights of the live Festival performances at the Cullen Theater, Wortham Center. This film on DVD is available for schools, libraries, community centers and groups in the Greater Houston Area.
